Nicholas Payton is an outstanding jazz trumpeter and pianist from New Orleans, known for his powerful sound and deep roots in the tradition of African American music. For years, he has emphasized that he does not play "jazz," but rather Black American Music (BAM)—a broad, historical genre encompassing blues, soul, funk, and improvisation. His work combines virtuosity, modernity, and cultural awareness, making him one of the most important voices on the contemporary scene. He possesses the rare ability to play both the trumpet and the piano. He performed at Warsaw Summer Jazz Days in 2025. Organizer: Adamiak Jazz – Mariusz Adamiak.
